Steinway Pianos

Since becoming the authorized Steinway dealership for Edmonton and Northern Alberta in 2008, Piano Centre has won numerous Steinway Dealer awards thanks to our wonderful clientele and our dedicated team. Our Steinway clients are our best source for persuading others of why a Steinway piano is a purchase that is so worthwhile.

When musicians & music lovers alike are seeking the best possible performance, craftsmanship, with no compromises on any aspect of their instrument,
a well prepared Steinway is the ultimate piano.

The combination of tradition, precision engineering, advancements, and the best materials available are what set Steinways apart from other pianos.

These world class, handbuilt instruments are distinctive by their tone and touch, but these two attributes are only possible by the care and craft that goes into building & assembling the more than 12,000 parts of each Steinway.

The Steinway & Sons company was founded in New York in 1853 by German immigrant, Heinrich Englerhard Steinweg, later known as Henry E Steinway. The company built and opened its current factory in Queens, NY in 1891 - that’s right, we’re still building Steinways in this factory today.

Each Steinway takes about a year to build, but the process only starts after the wood has been conditioned for a few years in the lumber yard - a process that each Steinway requires.

“Build the best piano possible.” a quote, mantra and vision from Henry E Steinway set from the very beginning of Steinway’s history. The factory and its dedicated craftsmen have been creating the world's finest pianos, one at a time ever since. Steinway has been granted over 130 patents, including just recently a Hammer velocity measurement system Patent number: 10304428 . Pioneers in piano building in history, but still innovating today.

The integration of old-world craftsmanship with Steinway’s ongoing development and continuous investment in state-of-the-art technology have resulted in a Steinway that possesses the widest range of tonal colors and the most responsive - and fastest — touch of any instrument ever built in our the company’s history. We invite you to try one and experience what Steinway’s are all about.

Take a look at this map indicating the old Steinway Village.

The Steinway village was a economic powerhouse that employed 2,300 people in New York. Today, around 200 craftsmen are at their stations every morning when the factory whistle blows.
